Anyone out there still looking for a belated fathers day gift? Well, this gift set is sure to make up for the lateness. I’m sure when you read the title, you were thinking tourbillon watch, but that’s where you’re wrong. Take a look at the TF Est. 1968 “Tourbillon” pen and matching “Tourbillon” cufflinks. Featuring carbon fiber, they get their name from the actual tourbillon mounted at a 45 degree angle on the top of the pen and in the cufflink. Tourbillon, which literally means “whirlwind”, is known to counter the effects of gravity by mounting the escapement and balance wheel in a rotating cage. Originally an attempt to improve accuracy, tourbillons are still included in some expensive modern watches as a novelty and demonstration of watchmaking virtuosity. The mechanism is usually exposed on the watch’s face to show it off.
